Grease Stain Removal Tips

If you need a grease stain removal solution, try this next time you spill some oil, or track in some grease from the garage.

If you own a rental, and it looks like someone changed an engine out on their Harley ( I’ve seen it all, and yes, I ran across this situation) then you’ll want to call in your carpet cleaning pro to do the job.

Your Carpet Cleaner can do the job better, faster, and more efficiently than what the homeowner can do with their limited tools and resources.

As a homeowner or landlord, you’ll want to gather the necessary tools and solutions, and then follow these simple steps to get those spots and stains out.

oil-rigYou’ll need the following items.

  • In your favorite laundry aisle at the store, look for dry cleaning solvent. If you cannot find any, then head over to the aisle with the home hardware and look for a product called Goof Off. (It can be as difficult to remove as the grease, so use it sparingly)
  • Terry Cloth Towel
  • Home Pro Spotter
  • Handi Brush

Getting a few oil or grease spots out can be really simple.

  1. First using a Terry Cloth towel, put a little of the solvent on the towel, and gently blot or tamp the spot.
    • Never pour solvents on carpet directly because you can destroy the backing of your carpet and leave it permanently damaged.
    • You can place the solvent dampened towel on the grease spot and tamp it with the Handi Brush using a tapping motion to help blot the spot into the towel.
  2. Continue using the solvent and towel until you have taken out the grease.
  3. Apply Home Pro Spotter to the area where your grease was, and then using a clean water dampened towel, blot out the excess Home Pro Spotter. The Home Pro Spotter should remove any remaining solvent from the carpet.

That should be all you need to do for your grease stain removal, but if not, be sure to give your professional carpet cleaner a call.
