Berry Stain Removal
Berry stain removal from carpet or upholstery can seem like an impossible task. If you search the Internet perhaps you've seen tips from pouring boiling water through a stained a shirt or using some sort of alcohol, lemon juice, or vinegar to remove the spot. There are safer and easier methods, along with green cleaning solutions, to help you completely remove the spot. We have five children, and they love to eat blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, or any other fruit that can stain a carpet or furniture.I can't tell you how many berry stains I had to remove over the years. I want to give you the information and instructions to have the best chance of removing those stains quickly and easily.
Here are the two methods to remove those stains.
For the first method, you'll need
Instructions for method one
- Remove any remaining fruit particles
- Spray or mist HomePro Pet Spotter on the berry stain and allow it to sit for a few minutes. If the stain cannot be blotted out completely, reapply HomePro pet spotter.
- Blot the area with ammonia, and allow time for the spot to disappear. If the odor of the ammonia is too much, mist the area with odor eliminator, and the ammonia smell will be gone instantly.
- You can agitate the carpet fibers with your HandiGroom brush, using a tapping motion on a damp terry cloth towel.
 The second method of berry stain removal is little more difficult, but you may have everything on hand. Here is what you'll need: - A little dishwashing detergent (don't use Joy or Dawn because they're too soapy and will leave behind a residue)
- Sudsy ammonia
- Hydrogen peroxide, the 3% solution is fine
- Vinegar, clear or white
- Some clean paper or terry cloth towels
The Instructions for method two- After you've removed any remaining fruit particles, first blot the area with a solution of 1 teaspoon liquid dish soap to 8 ounces of warm water. You can use the towel to apply the detergent solution.
- Apply the hydrogen peroxide by either spraying or blotting it on the stain.
- Apply ammonia to the berry stain.
- Allow 5 to 10 minutes, or until the berry stain disappears, then blot any excess liquid from the stain.
- When the stain is gone, apply clear vinegar to neutralize the stain.
